Play is essential for the physical and mental wellbeing of a child. It is a preparation for life, as the child is experimenting and gaining control over their life. The activities are fun and simply education. As famous child psychologist Jean Piaget said, “Play is the work of children.”
Through the establishment of a daily rhythm children sense the natural, flowing structure which makes up their day. Children can choose to freely move throughout this structure, which enables them to feel secure, safe, and accepted as their own individual selves. By giving children the opportunity to be themselves while they are playing, I can observe their development and their whole potential, at the same time supporting and fostering their empathy, as well as communication and problem-solving skills.
Healthy mealtimes and quiet time are important to nourish the body, mind, and soul, as these are the pillars of our daily rhythm. They give children a chance to decompress from the important physical and mental development that happens throughout their time playing together.
In three differently designed rooms children can freely follow their interest of art, music, dramatic and constructive play.
