My work with children is my life and my passion.
At a young age I had already developed a special love for all creation which later became focused on children, when I volunteered in a children’s hospital and as a youth leader in a Parish during my time at school. My comprehensive and thorough training as a Kindergarten teacher by Marianum Hegne in Constance/Germany, a renowned College for Social Pedagogic, gave me the strong foundation I needed for my later work with children of all ages. I still acknowledge and greatly thank this school for giving me the deep knowledge of children’s psychology and pedagogical skills, as well as the endless resources I needed to make my work with children so enjoyable and successful.
My love for music and the arts always helped me find inspiration for my work with children and have been and still are a red line through everything I do in my life and work. Most of my years in Germany I worked with children. ages 3 to School Grade 1 in full time Kindergartens. The last few years in Germany were spent working as team and kindergarten director with app. 100 fulltime children enrolled, as well as supervising 9 employees. For several years I owned and operated an Art School for children 3 – 10 including special needs children.
Thanks to my husband and my two daughters I have always found the support which is so essential in my life and daily work with children. 26 years ago after having spent most of my life in Germany, my family and I immigrated to Canada for a new challenge. For two years we lived in North Vancouver, 8 years in Nelson, BC, 10 years in West Vancouver and now 6 years on Bowen Island.
In 2008 I was rewarded for my work with children when I received the BC Government Award for Excellence in Childcare. I found the greatest meaning and purpose in my work as teacher, Early Childhood Educator and as part of a beautiful community of learners by offering a place and home for children
